Hiriketiya (Sri Lanka) became a second home—a place where tuk-tuks weave between monkeys, palm trees sway in the breeze, and the ocean never stops smelling, roaring, and calling.

For me, it was bittersweet. I thought I’d turn into a surf legend just by hitting the waves every day. Warm water, small perfect waves, locals cheering—sounds like a breeze, right? Yeah, not quite. I got absolutely wrecked. Tumbling, bruises, saltwater chugging contests, and, best of all—busted ribs that benched me for a month.

But that’s what surfing (and life in general) is about—it’s not about perfection. It’s about always getting back up and laughing at your own wipeouts.
